The best part about carving pumpkins this time of  year is baking and enjoying the seeds! This recipe is a take on a savory style pumpkin seeds but if you’d rather toss then in cinnamon and sugar then go for it! With pumpkin seeds, you can’t go wrong with any flavoring, they are so delicious!

From the Baketivity team to you, have a happy and safe Halloween! :)

Ingredients:

  • 1 pumpkin (one that you wish to carve for fun too!)
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp. onion powder

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350° F. and line a cookie sheet with parchment paper then set aside.
  2. Clean out your pumpkin my scraping out all of the insides and separating the seeds from everything else.
  3. Once your pumpkin is totally cleaned out, rinse the seeds to get rid of any remaining pumpkin pieces.
  4. Pat the seeds dry then place into a large bowl.
  5. Toss the seeds with all of the spices and a dash of olive oil until they are all evenly coated with flavor.
  6. Place the seeds onto the prepared cookie sheet then bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.
  7. Let the seeds cool completely before eating.
  8. Enjoy!

For some extra fun, take the pumpkin that you cleaned out and carve a spooky face or a fun design. To keep your carved pumpkin from wilting too much before Halloween, spray the carved side with vinegar to preserve the shape better! Have a fun Halloween everyone!
