Think of this game as hide-and-seek with a special purpose: to give Mom a very special message!
You’ll Need:
- Paper
- Pencils
- Scissors
- Hiding Spots
Set-Up:
First, your child will write a poem for Mom on a piece of paper. Feel free to fill in the blanks of the example below or have the child come up with their own using the skills they practiced during National Poetry Month last month! Once the poem is ready, cut out each line individually to prepare for the game.
Mom is _____ and smart.
She is full of ____ and heart.
_____ is how I feel with her.
She’s the best ____– I am sure.
The list could just go on and on
of reasons why I _____ my mom.
Game Play:
The child will collect the cut poem lines in their pocket or in a bag. And hide! When Mom comes to find them, they will give her a single line of the poem. Then run and hide again. Repeat until Mom has been given every line of the poem. Another way this game can be played is to simply hide all the lines of the poem at once and tell Mom to find them all, like an Easter Egg Hunt!
Either way, Mom will have a complete poem sharing a special message with her at the end, and everyone will have had tons of fun!
