Make it mean more to your kids by bringing in lessons about the importance of hard work and community while having fun as a family.[/ultimate_ctation][/vc_column][/vc_row]

It’s never too early to teach kids about what it means to work hard! So here are a few ways to celebrate the meaning behind Labor Day with little ones while enjoying time off together.

1. Make Cards for Community Helpers

Gather the family together and show your gratitude to those who work hard in your community all year long like postal workers, police officers, doctors, and librarians. Break out the art supplies and make your own thank you cards to celebrate these workers. Then drop them off the day after Labor Day to light up their week back at work.

2. Attend a Parade

Share in Labor Day festivities by going to a parade. While you’re there, talk with children about all the different roles of the people marching by. There are usually firemen, medical personnel, local politicians, musicians, and more that you can point out to your child and maybe even get them thinking about the kind of career they want one day.

3. Host a Family Career Fair

Take your career discussion with kids even further by letting them host their own career fair at home. Help them research a career they are interested in, and have everyone in the family do the same. Then set up your own little presentations around the kitchen table focused on the careers you chose. Walk around and visit each other as you present about your chosen career and why it’s important.

4. Take a Break Together

Lastly, one of the best ways to celebrate Labor Day is to enjoy your time off with your children. Take this chance to explain to them how hard you work and why taking breaks is important to you.

Let Labor Day be a celebration of work and family as you make your time off meaningful with kids!
