Get the perfect shade of green in all your St. Patrick’s Day treats with these easy tips![/ultimate_ctation][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]
Planning to add green to your cupcakes, cookies, and more with your kids this St. Patrick’s Day or other holidays like Christmas? These tips will help you and your family achieve the color you’re looking for every time.
Whether mixing color into icing or dough, these tips will help make your green color the perfect shade:
-
- Use Gel Food Coloring. This is stronger than liquid food dye which means only a few drops are needed to make rich colors. Plus, gel food coloring prevents icing from getting too watery.
- Start With Less. Always add only a few drops or even just one drop for smaller amounts of icing and dough to test the color. You can always add more if needed.
- Scrape Everything. When mixing in food color, scrape down every side of the bowl and mix well to ensure every bit of the color gets mixed in evenly.
For specific shades of green, keep these tips in mind:
- Light Green – Start with just one drop and mix to see the color. This may be all you need.
- Bright Green – Start with a few drops and mix to see the color.
- Lime Green – Use equal drops of green and yellow dye
- Deep Green – Use 6:1 parts green to orange color. For even darker green, replace the orange with black.
We hope these tips help you and your family enjoy the most magical St. Patrick’s Day treats when baking with kids!
