Grandparents Day is September 8th—and it’s the perfect chance to get kids thinking about what grandparents and grandkids have in common. Remind children that grandparents don’t just give them toys and goodies, but also a lot of who they are!
For grandparents looking for fun things to do with grandchildren, get the creative juices flowing with a conversation about how you have influenced your grandkids in each of these ways:
Physical Traits
Ask kids to think about which ways they resemble their grandparents. Do they have similar facial features? Do they dress alike? How does their physical appearance reflect that of their grandparents?
Experiences
Tell kids to consider what they’ve experienced because of their grandparents and family connections. Did their grandparents’ choices and/or cultures affect where they live, what they have learned about, the traditions they practice, etc.? Are there experiences their grandparents haven’t shared with them that coud be fun things to do with grandchildren moving forward?
Personality
Let kids think about how family impacts personality. Invite them to consider how their grandparents might have influenced their interests, their values, and even certain behaviors or mannerisms.
