So, roll up your sleeves, dust off your aprons, and prepare to embark on a journey of laughter, learning, and, of course, the delicious magic of homemade cookies baked with the ones you love![/vc_column_text][vc_video link=”https://youtube.com/shorts/5JMZR0acZ5w?feature=share”][vc_column_text]Encouraging kids to explore their creativity in the kitchen while baking is a truly incredible experience. As they measure, mix, and decorate, your kids not only hone their motor skills but also develop a deep sense of understanding of ingredients and processes. Naturally, the kitchen becomes a canvas for their imagination, where they can experiment fearlessly, learn from mistakes, and celebrate their unique creations. This early introduction to culinary creativity nurtures a lifelong love for cooking, empowering kids with essential life skills and a profound appreciation for the art of making something magical from scratch! So what are we waiting for? Let’s dive into this fun and delicious recipe.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Ingredients:

  • Store bought sugar cookie dough
  • 1 ½ cups unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 3 cups confectioner’s sugar
  • 2-3 Tbsp. heavy whipping cream
  • 1-2 drops brown food dye
  • 1-2 drops yellow food dye
  • ½ cup brown sprinkles

Directions:

  1. Prepare and bake the sugar cookies according to the directions on the package. Allow them to cool completely on a wire rack before decorating.
  2. In the meantime, you can make the buttercream. To make the buttercream use an electric mixer to beat the butter until smooth in a large bowl.
  3. Add the confectioner’s sugar to the butter and continue to beat. Gradually add the heavy whipping cream one tablespoon at a time.
  4. Once the buttercream is nice and smooth and there are no lumps, remove about ½ cup of buttercream and transfer it to a small bowl. Add the 2-3 drops of brown food dye. Mix until the buttercream is fully colored. Transfer to a piping bag.
  5. To the remaining buttercream, add 2-3 drops of yellow food dye. Mix until evenly incorporated then transfer to a piping bag.
  6. Once the cookies have cooled completely, slice the tip of the yellow piping bag on both sides at an upright angle.
  7. Pipe small brown circles of buttercream in the center of each cookie. Dip the cookies with the brown center of buttercream into the chocolate sprinkles. Pat the sprinkles down before adding the petals.
  8. Pipe about 8 petals on each cookie starting in the center and working your way out for each petal.
  9. Enjoy! Find the full tutorial for these Sunflower Cookies here.
