Chocolate Reindeer Cupcakes!

It’s your baker, Madison! I am so excited to share this recipe with you all and I would love for you to share your experience making them at home with your loved ones!

Okay how cute are these?! Not only do they look adorable and are perfect for this season but they taste delicious! Chocolate Cake Recipe;

  • 1 cup  all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup  white sugar
  • 6 Tbsp. cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 3/4 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup  vegetable oil
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 cup of boiling water

Chocolate Antlers;

  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Buttercream Recipe;

  • 2 sticks of unsalted butter at room temp.
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 -2 Tbsp. milk

Directions;

This will be the easiest and yummiest chocolate cake recipe you have ever made!

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. And line your cupcake pans.

In a large bowl combine all of your dry ingredients and whisk until everything is combined.

Next go ahead and add in all of your wet ingredients on top of your dry making sure to add the boiling water last. That’s it! I told you it would be easy :)

Fill your cupcake liners about 3/4 of the way full. Once you’ve completed this, go ahead and bake them for 15-20 minutes.

In the mean time you can make the buttercream and chocolate antlers. Let’s start with the buttercream!

Go ahead and cream your butter and powdered sugar until there are no lumps. Next add the salt and vanilla. You’ll notice that your buttercream is stiff, begin to add the milk 1 Tbsp. at a time until it reaches your desired consistency. There you have it! Super easy and so yummy!

Separate your buttercream into 4 different bowls. One bowl will be dyed brown, one will be black, the next red, and leaving the last one white. Fill your piping bag (or ziplock bags if you don’t have piping bags at home). Set everything aside until the cupcakes are cooled and you are ready to start decorating!

Let’s make some antlers! For these you want to go ahead and melt your chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl. Once the chocolate is completely melted let it cool for about a minute then add to a piping bag or baggie. On parchment paper you are going to pipe the shape of antlers however big or small you want them. Be careful not to make them too big or else they may be too heavy to stay on your cupcake. Once you’ve piped your antlers you can let them cool and harden in the fridge.

Now that you have everything baked and prepped it’s time to start decorating! Don’t worry I will take you through each step so we can do this together! Start by taking your brown icing and piping a small swirl around the edge of the cupcake bringing it in to complete the circle. Next, take your red icing and pipe a small oval and above that two white circles. In the white circles add a small dot of black to make the pupils. Lastly, and my favorite part, adding your antlers! Before you add them to your cupcakes make sure that they have hardened completely. Use the picture at the top of this recipe as a guide to help you when it comes to decorating.

I hope you have so much fun making them and enjoy sharing them! Make sure to join our private Facebook group page (Baketivity Community) where I will be interacting with you all, answering questions, sharing more fun recipes, and of course hearing ideas and comments from you! Thank you!
