If you haven’t already read about the history of Hershey’s chocolate with your kids, check that out here! The innovative ideas still emerging from the Hershey Company today are a great source of inspiration for little ones in their own innovative adventures with chocolate and more!
Get kids thinking innovatively with these sweet chocolate activities for kids:
1. Melted Masterpiece
Melt chocolate and create a unique masterpiece with other equipment and ingredients. Can you form it into a new shape? Can you fill it with pretzel pieces, M&Ms, or another treat.? Let it harden back up and present what you made to a few eager taste-testers in your family.
2. Chocolate Concoction
Chocolate bars can be found in “milk chocolate”, “dark chocolate” and other varieties. They get these titles based on what’s inside like the amount of milk. In a pot, prepare your own chocolate concoction by adding cocoa and your chosen amount of ingredients like milk, butter, sugar, and other things like syrup, honey, or whatever you’d like to flavor your chocolate. Then heat it up, cool it down, and try it out.
3. Top Like Never Before
You see chocolate topped on ice cream, cakes, and cookies in sauce form, sprinkle form, chip form, and more. Can you think of a new way to use chocolate as a topping? How could you come up with an original form of chocolate to use to top something like a sundae?
4. Surprising Pair-Up
Everyone knows chocolate pairs classically with nuts, salt, and peanut butter. But did you know some people eat chocolate with cheese? Others eat chocolate with ginger and other less popular flavors. Think of a surprising dish or food to pair chocolate with and try it out. Serve it up and see what people think.
Innovation is an important skill for kids, especially nowadays in an ever-changing world. So use these chocolate activities for kids to boost creativity and out of the box thinking!
