Beat the heat, create lasting memories, and enjoy some soak-tastic family time with these 3 water games guaranteed to make a splash with kids of all ages!

Game 1: Splish, Splish, Splash

Gather round in the water for this pool-friendly version of the classic kids party game: duck, duck, goose.

To start, have everyone stand facing each other in a circle in the water. Choose someone to be the Splish-Spalsher. This person walks or swims around the circle making a small splish at the back of each player. Then they choose one person to make a big splash behind. The Splish-Splasher now swims as fast as they can around the circle while the person who got splashed swims after them and tries to tag them. If the Splish-Splasher gets back to that person’s spot before being tagged, they are safe. If they don’t make it, they spend one round of the game in the center, aka the Whirlpool. The person who got splashed is now the new Splish-Splasher.

Game 2: Splash, You’re It

Make tag a whole lot cooler in the summer with this water balloon version!

First, fill up a few water balloons and place them in an easy-to-carry bucket. Next, choose someone to be ‘it,’ and give them the bucket of balloons. Now, play tag! The person who is it will throw water balloons at the other players. When a water balloon hits and pops on someone, they are now ‘it’ and must take the bucket. Feel free to keep playing until you run out of water balloons!

Game 3: Water Balloon Pass

See how far your family can pass the water balloon without popping it!

Grab a water balloon and gather your family in a circle outside. To begin the game, choose a summer word like “vacation” or “beach.” Now, you will pass the balloon from one family member to another as you spell your word. For example, if you chose “beach,” player 1 would shout “B!” and pass the balloon to player 2 who would shout “E!” If someone says the wrong letter or forgets their letter, the whole circle takes one step back and continues play. Also, every time the word is spelled completely, the whole circle takes a step back! Then you spell the word again. This makes it harder to toss the balloon each round. Keep going until the balloon pops! How many steps were you able to take together?

What are you waiting for? Go ahead and grab your swimsuits and the bottle of sunscreen to get the fun flowing with these fun family water games!
